Energy Hacking With Water: Drinking Water For Energy
One of the key symptoms of dehydration is fatigue. So it’s not surprising that adequate water intake is essential for boosting energy.
Water plays an important role in the function of the circulatory system. You circulation facilitates the movement of blood, oxygen and other nutrients throughout the body. It’s also how waste products are removed from the body such as carbon dioxide, metabolic waste and toxins. Think of your circulation as the super highway of the body. If you’re dehydrated, it’s like making the super highway into a single lane. The traffic still moves, but it’s S-L-O-W.
So how much water should you drink ?
Have you ever wondered how much water you should be drinking? I get asked this question consistently. Did you know that the recommendation of drinking 8 glasses of water a day is not based on any scientific literature but was just a recommendation that someone once gave? I know, mind boggling, right? With that being said, water is still ultra important because it’s essential to the body’s daily tasks. I still recommend 8- 8oz glasses or 2L per day plus an additional 500mL- 1L depending on your fitness level . Unfortunately there’s no perfect recommendation. The best rule of thumb is to listen to your body. If your body is telling you “I’m Thirsty”, then you need to drink more water. So let’s get you drinking water more consistently throughout the day.
So I can hear you saying, “Yes more water for energy…but I don’t like the taste.”
Another issue I’m constantly being told is the statement “ but I don’t like water”. My best suggestion for you is to try infused water. Infused water will give water that little extra taste but not add any unhealthful sugar or additives.
